It's been raining, which isn't very common during this time of the summer. But well who cares! Good for me!

It took me a while to get used to home. The food that makes you realize you were surviving by eating shit till now, Relatives who treat you as if you are a superstar, and well no tension of having EG pracs the next morning. But well it takes a time to realize that you can't wake up whenever you want, you HAVE to eat everything that is served, you can't stay up late night, and you are suppossed to do something productive or else teach your sister.

But what I'll miss the most is the people, or rather the time spent with these people. Though it isn't the last time I'll see them (Unlike fellow-blogger MS di who now will not be seeing half of her batch-mates next sem), I still miss the random moments spend with them.. So then,

No more meeting people and then saying "Waazzaaaaaa...."!
No more saying random abuses & fighting with people...
No more going to someone's room to call him for lunch, and finding him asleep...
No more messages saying "colon hyphen P" in the middle of a lecture...
No more bringing people back to this world while they sit at the dinner table all lost...
No more calling people "muscular"...
No more messaging people to come for dinner & getting a "I had a juice in the evening" reply...
No more screaming next to someone's window...
No more spending days in someone's room...
Well its a long list, but this kinda sums most of it. I'll miss you people!

Ok enough of this "I miss SRM".

The Joy of Doing Nothing

I’ve been living through a terrible experiment for the past few months. And here is a summary of the results. Doing “nothing” is easier said than done. The idea of doing nothing after a while of doing everything is extremely appealing. But apparently, there is no joy in doing nothing.

When we have over-scheduled ourselves, we constantly think about all that we would do once our work gets done and we have free time. But once that moment of freedom arrives, all our desires vanish. The list of “things to do when free” becomes another “to do list”. We end up doing nothing and soon, we get bored enough to wish we had more work to do. Proverbs like “the grass is greener on the other side” flash in our minds and the hunt for greener pastures seems endless.

Doing nothing is extremely difficult and boring on all counts. We are addicted to doing things with an aim or purpose and there is no apparent purpose in doing nothing. It is almost like we are addicted to constantly thinking about the past, future, and everything else in the middle. And once we stop thinking, the empty mind sure does become the devils playground. Questions start popping up – What happens when we die? Why does God allow evil? What’s the meaning of life? We realize that there is little meaning to life other than what we give it. We realize that the reason we hate to work is because, while we work so hard to get better, richer and more successful, we have forgotten how to do something because we enjoyed it.

“il dolce far niente”.

The old Italian saying stands for “the sweetness of doing nothing”. The saying is not about being idle or lazy, but a state of non-activity which enables us to experience life to the fullest, to love and to be loved, to notice the simple joys of life.

With this epiphany comes a state of new found bliss. The greener grass becomes visible on both sides. And as we look around, we find that the world is no more a rat race, but an amusement park filled with joy rides.

For those who were still sleeping, wake up!! This football championship, next only to the World Cup, is being held in Austria & Switzerland from June 7th to June 29th. 16 Teams, 4 Groups. Get ready for some amazing display of soccer!!

Oh & these mascots are called Trix & Flix. Cute eh? :*

Among the teams, Germany, Russia, Spain, Netherlands have qualified for more than 6 times for the Championship. But you never know, Poland & Austria, coming for the first time till this stage, might surprise us all!!

With England not there, there sure is a little disappointment among their fans. Anyway I'm supporting Portugal, though all I want is good football.

Anyway for all the soccer fans out there, here are two important things:

Schedule Sheet: If you are planning to follow every game, then this is a must! An excel sheet, programmed to calculate Group Standings, future game fixtures etc. All you have to do is fill in the score of the match and get the stats!
Get this here: AceFixtures for Euro 2008!

Online Schedule: If you are the lazy kind, this is for you! A live schedule & stats center with a cool flash design.
Bookmark this site now: http://www.flesport.com/

PS: Change the settings to get time in IST (GMT+5:30).
Well I'll be away from the internet for a few days. So will be back with updates after a while!!
